Fry Art Gallery
Autumn is gathering in and my colour palette is seeking after warmth and comfort, when drawing from nature I find myself focussing on how one form nestles in against another. I am putting together a small number of pieces for show at the Fry Gallery Annual Sale in November, looking to submit a couple of paintings and three works on paper. Here is the first offering: ‘Kingdom’. Most years recently I have created a piece based on the Physalis plant. The forms, richness of colour and drama as the lanterns turn from lime green to a bright orange give me joy. In this piece I was interested in the relationship of one lantern to another as they turn colour, thinking about kingdoms, communities and ebbs and flows of influence and seeness.
